Hi,
After searching for some answers I found out that people with WS 2012r2 in order to view reports on WSUS install either Report Viewer 2008 SP1 Redistributableor MICROSOFT® REPORT VIEWER 2012 RUNTIME. I wonder in what situation would you choose either of them?
- Microsoft Report Viewer 2008 SP1 Redistributable
- Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable 2008
- MICROSOFT® REPORT VIEWER 2012 RUNTIME
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services
- NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or .NET Framework 4.0.
- Microsoft SQL Server System CLR Types package that also needs Windows Installer 4.5 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/942288/windows-installer-4-5-is-available)
- SQLSysClrTypes.msi
- x86
- http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=239643&clcid=0x409
- x64
- http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=239644&clcid=0x409
- Then in some articles they say to install .NET 2.0 with 2008.

- So in the world of all those contradictions some questions are demanded to be answered:
- 1) If its possible to install both (or maybe all 3 types) which one is best and why? In what circumstances should we go for the newest 2012 Runtime.
- 2) Microsoft needs to do some updates because if 2008 and 2008 sp1 is for lower versions of server OS, how come you can still install it on 2012?
- 3) On neither of those versions' requirements there is a mention of .NET 2. Yet when you run 2008- you get this message? How is this possible, Microsoft?
- Thanks! Let's talk!

There are already many articles on the net, but my thing is that Redistributable 2008 supposed to run only Windows Vista, Windows XP+.NET 3.5. Then 2008 SP1 Redistributable has Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows XP with .NET 3.5 SP1. Yet Only MICROSOFT® REPORT VIEWER 2012 RUNTIME supports the needed 2012 version (Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012, Windows Vista Service Pack 2).
MICROSOFT® REPORT VIEWER 2012 RUNTIME needs:
