I am very green with WSUS so baby me a bit...
Here is my issue, I have acquired a WSUS environment and am being tasked with utilizing it again. It's been left alone for about 6 - 7 months...we are managing it via GPO as recommended. So I've gone thru my AD and WSUS computer groups just trying to get all my systems in WSUS. I've been pretty successful at getting some systems to report in using a gpupdate /force and then running the following command:
wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow.
HOWEVER what I have found now on two separate occassions is this:
Have a system which we will call Server1, have a second system called Server2. Both servers are in the same OU in AD. And let's say Server1 shows up in WSUS fine. So I start troubleshooting Server2, I run gpupdate /force, then wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow. After a few minutes HEY Server2 now shows up in WSUS...but hold on, now I lost Server1...so I run the same commands on Server1, and IT comes back but I lose Server2...WHAT GIVES? I've checked DNS both systems checkout fine, run nslookup, and both systems checkout fine. Run ipconfig /flushdns on the WSUS server as well as Server1 and 2 and run thru the same steps with the same results.
Have a mix of Windows 2003, and W2K8 various flavors of each. My WSUS server is W2K3 R2, running WSUS version 3.2.7600.226
Also worth mentioning if I run a clientdiag on both systems, everything passes...no issues.
Scratching my head here!!! Any help? Any ideas?...
