WSUS - old updates keep appearing

WSUS Version: 3.2.7600.226

Windows Server: 2008 R2 SP1

Been looking at WSUS for a couple of months now. We have approved the updates from the unapproved and sttatus any filter. However old updates dating back from 2003 have appeared in the list.

Does anyone know why this happens? Each month everything is approved and there is nothing left to approve, and randomly updates then appear in the unapproved list when doing a search.

These updates are not part of the current month's patches, as they range in date from 2003 - present date
