Hi all,
I've built up a new 2008 R2 64 bit Standard server as a domain controller with the eventual goal to replace my 2003 domain controllers. I planned to install wsus to this new server as a replica of the 2003 wsus server in hopes to retain the approvals. When I've tried to install WSUS as a role, however, it always hangs at about 35% of the install. I've tried this a few times, letting it first add the IIS and Application server requirements itself, as well as removing and then installing these manually. One thing that maybe caused trouble was I did not originally have the wsus dynamic installer product set to download updates in my 2003 wsus server. I've since added the product and approved KB972493 - which now shows as needed by the new server. I understand it won't actually install until needed; but I'm not sure if me trying to install wsus as a role before this caused some error that has not cleared. When I look at the update history on the new server it shows that updates as installed a few times, though the first attempt apparently failed with error code 800706BE.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike Kirk
