Hi there,
This might not be the exact forum where I should be posting this question but maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I have various Windows 7 machines that aren't connected to the Internet and need to know how to update them offline (home and professional versions). I've searched high and low for how to do this but to my surprise and frustration there seems to be no simple way. The best I could find is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913086 but I downloaded it and found nothing but a bunch of independent ".msu" and ".exe" files. It's very difficult to believe MSFT would expect users to manually unravel all these files and figure out exactly which to install, whether this represents the complete set of updates (not just security), whether the order of installation matters, etc. Yes, there are various advertised apps around that claim to perform an offline update but these can't be trusted. I need something from MSFT itself and if they don't have a comprehensive program that automates the process, well, it's just business as usual from MSFT these days (a company I could once depend on but who in recent years has caused me no end of aggravation). Can someone point me to a comprehensive program that does this (from MSFT) or confirm whether no such app exists. Thanks for your assistance.
