I am running Windows Server Update Services on a Windows 2008 R2 server, WSUS version is 3.2.7600.226.
- I have several clients in the list that report the wrong version OS, they all appear to be Windows Server editions that present incorrectly, I'd also like to point out that the versions it's claiming are on the clients they never had on them, most of these were purchased within the last year and do not have identical names to servers that were previously on the network.
- Other programs such as Spiceworks or even Active Directory capture the correct version of the OS for these servers.
- Several clients running Windows Server 2008 Standard x64 AND Windows Server 2012 Standard x64 report as Server 2003 Standard X64.
- All of the server I have running Windows Server 2008 Datacenter report they are 2003 Datacenter.
- All of our servers run a volume licensed version of Windows and these are all on physical machines not virtuals, the virutals all report the correct versions.
- They still download updates for the correct version of Windows but always report errors on install until the clients have been power cycled.
