BUG 1: The Options for Automatic Approval are not saved if "Any Classification" or "Any Products" is selected. If either of these "Any *" options are selected, then this parameter is not saved with the Rule. i.e. if you close and apply the Rule, the"Any" options previously selected are Unselected.
BUG 2: In the Automatic Approval Options Dialog, "Run Rule" does not Approve any Updates that already exist in WSUS.
Setup:
Clean dedicated WS2008 R2 all current updates
Clean install of prerequisites identified in the WSUS 3.0 SP2 release notes
Clean install WSUS 3.0 SP2 all defaults.
There are No Errors. Everything seems to be working except Automatic Approval.
Some other related posts indicate that Automatic Approval only applies to New Updates during Synchronization and that changes to the Rules may require a few days before noticing their effect. Applying rules on a synchronization and not applying rules to retroactive updates is understandable. Is the "Run Rule" button obsolete because it can't approve retroactive updates or should it (does it?) apply the rule and execute the Synchronize Now process?
The current work around is to Manually Approve Updates.
These are "BUGS" because the behavior is unexpected, counter intuitive, unproductive, and require a work around to achieve the intended results.
Please Let us know when Automatic Approvals is fixed.
