I have 3 WSUS servers all running 3.0 w/ sp2 on Windows 2003 Enterprise Servers. They have been syncing fine for about a year and now I cannot keep two of them syncing reliably. One syncs directly with Microsoft, the other two are subordinates that sync directly with the first server. The one at the top of the hierarchy that syncs with Microsoft works just fine. As stated earlier, I cannot keep the two subordinates syncing reliably. I get a SQL timeout error. I have been through a lot of posts on this site and have done the following.
1) cleaned up the updates on the server. I now only have 300 approved updates. There are about 6000 total updates but all are declined except the 300 and any news ones that come in daily.
2) Made sure there are no auto approvals setup.
3) Shut down the WSUS services and de-fragged the hard drives of all three machines.
4) Ran the cleanup wizard on all three machines
5) Run the DBMaintenance sql script against all three SQL servers.
I am still getting the SQL timeout error most of the time.
Anyone got any more ideas on how to solve this?
thanks,
