Hi there...I am trying to update client systems & getting above mentioned error. Also I noticed that settings in Windows update / Change Settings says "Never Check for Updates" even though I set the changes to "Auto Download and Scheduled the install". Another thing I noticed is that in the "Secify intranet Microsoft update service location" settings the previous guy had set the setting ashttp://wsusserver.domain.com:8530 (which I doubt as it should behttp://wsusserver:8530 , please correct me if I am wrong).
Another thing when checked the connectivity from the client to server as http://wsusserver:8530/selfupdate/iuident.cab , I am getting "The page cannot be found with HTTP 404 error" does this mean anything? (but this only happens in the systems build in the new images from the master image (on which the setting I set to "Check for updates but let me choose to wether to download and install them) and in rest of the systems in the same domain can download the .cab file). Once I have installed the images, getting the policy from the Active Directory.
When I checked the Basic Settings for C:\inetpub\wwwroot for the Sites in IIS - got this error - The server is configured to use pass-through authentication with a built-in account to access the specified physical path. However, IIS Manager cannot verify whether the built-in account has access. Make sure that the application pool identity has Read access to the physical path. If this server is joined to a domain, and the application pool identity is NetworkService or LocalSystem, verify that <domain>\<computer_name>$ has Read access to the physical path. Then test these settings again.
Another thing I changed is that I have "Enabled the Windows Authentication" as previously was set to disabled (which is on the WSUS sites in in IIS in Windows server 2008 R2), even then I am having the same issue. I have also attached the link to the WSUS-logs (http://tinyurl.com/6mq5de2) , since I am still learning to troubleshoot, any help would be of great help and appreciated. Please let me know.
