Hi All,
I have spent a little bit of time researching into an issue I am facing, and was hoping someone here has an answer to the problem.
WSUS is configured to use proxy settings (Via the Admin console); synchronisations are successful, however when attempting to download content from MS, I am being met with errors i.e. as below:
Event ID 364 - "Content file download failed. Reason: HTTP status 407: Proxy authentication is required."
A few people on the forums suggested it was a number of things, ranging from WinHTTP to setting the ConfigureSSLProxy via WSUSUtil.Exe, but I have had no such luck.
The site uses a PAC file for proxy auto-detection, so WinHTTP returns a result of "DIRECT", when running Netsh WinHTTP Import Proxy Source=IE. But even when I manually enter the proxy settings and re-run an import, the issue still persists.
With regards to the ConfigureSSLProxy property in WSUSUtil.Exe, Unfortunately this command truncates the last character of my proxy server, so I have had to use the -Disable switch to revert it back.
The network does have an upstream server, but I am unable to only select the products that I need for this specific site (Obviously if it were available on the upstream server). So I am faced with two possibilities:
1. Resolve this issue whereby the proxy settings configured (and working for sync at least), will apply to downloading content. Or,
2. Revert to using the upstream server (Whether or not I can restrict what I want available to approve).
Has anyone had any experiences with resolving the issue at hand? I have seen many posts and a lot of them point back to the proxy not being "configured". But, I have at least during testing, ensured that WinHTTP had proxy settings stored and that
also the WSUS Admin Console has had the proxy and credentials specified.
WinHTTP Auth can only be done via application, so I am assuming that WSUS should be the conduit for proxy authentication. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Regards,
Sean.
