KB2546250 fails to install in one of win2008 R2 server in RDS farm. It failed one time with Error details: code 80246007 and after that it says install successful but if i check for update KB2546250 shows again as not installed. Please advise a fix

WSUS Automatic Approvals Rules not approving "Upgrades" Classification
I have an issue where we setup a new 2012 R2 server that is hosting the WSUS Role in an attempt to start working with the new Upgrades classification for upgrading machines running windows 10. I wanted to setup an automatic approval rule to have these updates approved for an specific computer group but it doesn't seem to work. I have other automatic approval rules that work fine, is this a bug with the new upgrades classification, or is this intended? I haven't found any information to suggest that this shouldn't work but I wanted to ask.
I am running the 3095133 hotfix, and only enabled the Upgrades classification after the hotfix was installed.

Upgrade from W10 10240 to 151029 is failing with 0x8007007E
Few weeks ago installed WSUS on a Server 2012R2. Added the mime type and the hotfix for W10 upgrades. Synced the catalog and approved the needed updates. When clients downloaded the upgrade and are trying to upgrade, the following error occurs:

wuauclt.exe /reportnow not working on Win10
Hi,
I run WSUS Server on Server 2012R2 with Win7,8 and now some 10 clients.
Some Win10 clients don't regularly report.
I can't figure out how to get them report manually.
The /reportnow switch which works with Win7 and 8.1 clients seems to have no effect at all.
/detectnow seems to work.
Anyone knows a way to get the clients report?

Windows 10 computers show up as Vista on Server 2008R2 WSUS
Our WSUS runs on a Windows Server 2008R2 system. When trying to update a couple of new Window 10 LTSB Surface Tablets, it says no updates are needed. I noticed that WSUS thinks the Windows 10 Surface Tablets are running Vista. This is probably why no updates are available.
KB3095113 fixes this problem on a Windows 2012 R2 server. Is there a fix for this WSUS issue on a Windows 2008 R2 server?

WSUS 6.3.9600.16384 showing updates as not downloaded
Hi all,
We have a WSUS 6.3.9600.16384 server that's been running flawlessly for almost 2 years. This last patch cycle when I went in to approve updates I noticed that all the newly synchronized updates showed as "The files for this update have not yet
been downloaded". I checked older updates that had already been successfully deployed and they showed the same "not yet downloaded". This is very strange because they were already pulled from this WSUS server by clients our WSUSContent
directory was over 100GB.
Synchronization is set to daily and usually completes without issue (there are intermittent server side rejections, but they usually auto-resolve in a day or 2). Manual synchronization completes also without issue. The GUI shows the last sync that
downloaded updates was on 01-13-2016 with 177 updates downloaded. We have a downstream WSUS server that shows all updates as being downloaded (it's set to download from the internet, not from the upstream).
There is the occasional (very intermittent) Event ID 364 siting unable to connect to server:

but when I test connectivity every URL shows as listening on 443 except for ntservicepack.microsoft.com (note this also fails on numerous other computers is different locations). We're not deploying service packs via WSUS so I don't think this is an issue:

I checked the permissions of the WSUSContent directory and the Network Service account did not have any explicit permissions, so I added it and still no joy.
I then attempted a WSUSUtil reset. I stop the WSUS service, delete the contents of the WSUSContent directory and then restart WSUS. It looks like BITS tries to download 10 updates....I then issue the reset command and after ~10 minutes the agent
reset finishes, but only 10 folders from the initial restart of the WSUS Service are present in the WSUSContent directory, none have any data within.

Can not open WSUS Management Console
Recently, when I run the WSUS Managment Console, it always pop-up the error:
“MMC cannot open the file C:\Program Files\Update Services\administrationsnapin\wsus.msc.
This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not have sufficient access rights to the file.”
I try to summary of solution from google. I hope it can help you.
Cause 1: wsus.msc file is corrupted or crashes in this path: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MMC
Casue 2: This can happen if you fail to complete all of the prerequisites for WSUS 3.0, especially installing MMC 3.0. Not installing MMC 3.0 is what caused our issue here.
Resolution 1: Remove the wsus.msc file, try to open WSUS Management Console again.
Resolution 2: Re-install the ‘Windows Server Update Services‘.
Resolution 3: Install the MMC 3.0, then try to open the WSUS Managment Console again.

WSUS Migration 3.2/2008 R2 to 6.3/2012 R2
Dear Forum Helpers,
I am in the process of migrating 3.2/2008 to 6.3/2012 R2.
I only want the Update/Database (approvals...)to migrate. Nothing else, because the new server is set up with a different structure/groups.
Does anyone now if I can
1. shift only the database with included updates?
All the instructions I am reading include everything .

WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) required updates not match MU/WU (Windows Update)
1. Why WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) count differs from MU/WU (Windows Update)?
2. How to configure them appear exactly the same?
It seems known issue,
MU/WU and WSUS treat needed updates differently.

IE end of support
I didn't approve yet last Tuesday patches.
I have heard that there is a KB that will notify IE 8,9,10 users (on W7) about IE end of support every 72 hours.
Is this true? What KBs?
Any clear practical info please... Sure versions below 11 cannot be removed in one shot in large environment depending on 8,10 IE.
At least need to prevent a popup if it is expected... Somebody saw it?

WSUS fails to download Windows 10 upgrade files
Hi,
Im approving the Windows 10 1511 upgrades on WSUS - Server 2012R2.
Single WSUS server synching directly with MS and storing updates locally.
The Windows 10 upgrades keep failing to download though so i cant actually deploy them to my Windows 10 group for upgrade from Win 7.
I approve the update "Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586 - en-gb, Retail for my Windows 10 computer group.
It starts downloading then about 5 minutes later will come up with:
The files for this update failed to download.
The update can be approved but will not be available to computers until the download is complete. Click retry download to start the download again.
The following is logged in the event log:

Reason: File cert verification failure.

Unable to install Windows 10 1511 Upgrade on Windows 10

Im trying to get my Windows 10 RTM Enterprise upgraded to 1511 with WSUS but for some odd reason it will not let me. I'm not too strong with reading the WindowsUpdate.log so I hope one of you experts will have a go at it.
Let me try to explain my setup. I run a WSUS 4.0 that have been applied the update and I have added the MIME Type to the web server. I've got so far as to get the client to download the update but not installing it.
I'll post the entire WindowsUpdate.log from the point where the search is initiated. Bare in mind downloading works so maybe this log shows the files as already downloaded.

WSUS shows Windows 10 Client as Windows Vista
Hi, since I synchronized Windows 10 Clients on my WSUS (Windows Server 2012 R2) in the Client Groups the WSUS shows Windows 10 Clients as Windows Vista. I think this problem depends on the version of Win10. Is there a patch or a hotfix for Win2K12 R2 WSUS to resolve this issue?

Product not listed for updates - Visual Studio 2015

In the company I work for I manage the WSUS server and users are unable to select what updates they can install. All updates are controlled by WSUS. I have one user that wishes to get updates for Visual Studio 2015, but this is not listed as an option to deploy under the "Products and Classifications" option in the WSUS console. The following are listed:

Error while downloading KB3012973 (Windows 10 ESDs)
Greetings.
My server is 2008 R2. Several days ago WSUS told me that it has brand new Windows 10 ESDs (KB3012973) to be downloaded and handed to the PCs in my network, but it won't download these ESDs. It tries to download them over and over again, hogging the hetwork and spamming with Error Code 364 messages:

Patch level report
Hi there,
We do not use WSUS but my question is related to patch managemet.
Is there a way to check the patch level of Windows 2000/2003 servers using a comman-line or freeware tool in order to verify whether it is up-to-date with very latest patches?
We've many servers in our setup, so it would be great if the tool enables us to check for server patch level in batches.
Some one suggested MBSA, but not sure if this tool is free for corporate users.

Can a WSUS 4.0 server be downstream in a WSUS 3.0 enviornment?
I currently have a WSUS 3.0 environment running on Server 2008 R2. I am standing up a new 2012 server that will run WSUS but will be 4.0. Can I have that sync with the 3.0 upstream server? This is all within an SCCM environment if that matters.

We have WSUS installed and Win 2008 R2 and working fine from last few years. Recently we have purchased Window 2012 R2.
I want to connect Win 2012 to WSUS installed on 2008 R2 to take update from that server.
Connect with AD and working fine, but when i check the Server 2012 is not showing in WSUS.

How can i stop a downstream WSUS server from synchronizing with the upstream WSUS server while i apply a patch
I will like to stop my downstream WSUS server when im applying new patches, this way i can run a report without new updates showing not been approved. I don't want to create a schedule i just will like to have control of the the sync between them.

IIS 100% CPU Usage for the WSUS Application Pool
Server 2012 (not R2), SQL 2008 R2 SP2, SCCM 2012 R2 CU4
This seems to have started at 7 am yesterday morning, i have gone through every log i can think of any cannot identify what changed at that point but i cannot see anything, but since then the WSUS App Pool has maxed out the CPU.
It is SCCM integrated so i have checked the SCCM logs also, there was no activity at that time, we are not doing any deployments, no patch download activity.
I have recycled the apppool, restarted IIS and then restarted the server, but with the same result.
I have increased the number of threads in the app pool to 2 and then 4 and left it for a few hours, but that didnt resolve the issue.
The only way is to stop that AppPool, which obviously kills WSUS.
Can anyone suggest how i can identify the cause of this problem and how i can resolve it? This is having a significant impact on the server overall, and also the VMWare host.
