We recently upgraded our WSUS server from Server 2012 R2 to Server 2016. Since then the computers overview page titled "This view shows a summary of the status of your computers by computer group." is blank. But all other features including the Updates Overview page is working fine. Please support.

Need help.

I installed a WSUS server and am having trouble with the following:-

1.  My machine is not showing up in the WSUS console.

2.  I have set the WSUS server to download updates locally.  I can see it has sync'd and is showing that updates need to be approved etc BUT when i try to view updates so I can approve nothing is displayed?

3.  And I keep getting this annoying Error Connection Error (see screen shot).  What the hell's going on?  I hit 'Reset Server Node' and then it fixes it but then comes back when i'm trying to navigate in/around the WSUS console.

I've created a GP and under Computer Configuration have set the intranet update server to my server e.g http://myserver:8530 and linked it to an OU which my computer account is now sitting in.

Performed a GPUPDATE /FORCE on my machine, and have checked registry entry which confirms that my machine is pointing to my WSUS server.  So that all seems fine.  Did this today.  Having doing some reading, it seems like for machines to show up can take some time.  I've also performed wuauclt /register, wuauclt /detectnow on the server.

I set WSUS yonks ago and am pretty certain everything is set correctly, but please feel free to correct me incase i've missed anything.

 I am having issues with WSUS Clients updates. On one replica site (proxy is not enable), Clients (windows 7 64bit) get updates, but they are not automatically installing. It notify to users. I am using group policy settings for client's side. here are the settings.
Allow Automatic Updates immediate installation - Enabled
Automatic Updates detection frequency - Enabled (Interval set to 5 hours)
Configure Automatic Updates - Enabled (Set to 4 - Auto Download and schedule the install everyday at 22:00)
Delay Restart for Scheduled Installation - Enabled (restart (minutes) 2)
No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations - Enabled
Re-prompt for restart with scheduled installations - Enabled (Set to 1440 minutes)
Reschedule Automatic Updates Scheduled installations.
Enabling Windows Update Power Management to automatically wake up the system to install scheduled updates - Enabled
Specify intranet Microsoft update service location - Enabled (http://test on both)

Also I have a problem when I execute "ClientDiag" I have this message:

I start recently to use WPP, to deploy EXE ans MSI, i aleady had a functional WSUS installed in a Win 2012 server.

The managed to create update for SEP and Flash player (EXE), the clients can detect the update but once i start downloading it ends with an error message, this is the windowsupdate log :

Hello -- Need help -- I am currently trying to provide a design to deploy patches thru WSUS only for the server infra,  

1. 1. The first data center has 2000 servers 
2. 2. the second has a count of 500 servers 
3. 3. third has a count of 500 servers  

Here is the solution I think about please help me if I am right or I need any modification

• Data center 1 with a <g class="gr_ gr_22 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling" data-gr-id="22" id="22">wsus</g> upstream server and SQL standard installed on a separate server (not opting WID or SQL server) / Configured to Express Installation Files for <g class="gr_ gr_21 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" data-gr-id="21" id="21">performancences</g>.
• Data center 2 with a WSUS downstream server with SQL standard installed on a server server
• Dara center 3 with a WSUS downstream server with SQL standard installed on a server server
• All other remote locations configure with WSUS downstream server with WID as the numbers are not high

Here are my questions?

Do I need WSUS cluster or this would suffix?

Do I need SQL server installed on a separate server or can I opt the same server (I mean the WSUS server)

Do I need SQL on both the data center or WID would suffix

Please correct me if I am wrong with the design

I know WSUS cannot patch Office C2R apps. However, I have several machines that are receiving Office 2013 updates from WSUS and I can't figure out why since they appear to have had Office 2013 C2R installed. I am basing this on the article below where it clearly shows how to determine whether or not your Office product was installed via C2R or via MSI. Our machines are imaged using SCCM, the image already has the Office product installed on it. The users just activate it when they launch Office for the first time.

How is this possible. It is very confusing to make sense of this.

I am very frustrated by this problem.

About 6 computers and 1 laptop forcefully restarts with no warning on our network at least once a week. We have a about 150 computers on our network. The restart usually happens every Thursday morning after the user has logged in and started working. Always the same user/computer. Three of the computers are in the same department.

About our system/network:

• Windows 2003 servers.
• Windows XP service pack 3 computers and laptops.
• In Group Policy I have had Windows updates disabled long before this problem started.
• Users do not have admin rights
• Sophos Anti Virus (updates automatically every morning)

What I have tried:

• 1st thought was that Sophos Anti Virus restarts the computer after it does its updates every morning. Sophos support assured me that their software does not ever force a pc to restart.
• I had a software roll-out configured via Group Policy for Adobe Flash(which I could not get working). I thought this might have caused the restarts, I disabled this.
• I checked that the Windows Updates Group policy was working on these computers.
• In the department of three computers we had a computer upgrade and I thought that this would be the day I can get rid of this problem. After the upgrade the restart happened as usual.

I'm using WSUS server (2016) to install windows patches. I'm facing bit strange issue and PFB details.

Issue-  Aug2018 (KB4343887 & KB43438814) patch is not getting installed in few (16 out of 50)  windows 2016 standard edition servers. All these servers are in same network. Last patch success is June cumulative patch on these servers

• Patch getting detected in clients and installing 100%. While rebooting sever, its undoing the patches.
• I've tried to install manually and same issue. I've disabled local windows firewall and disabled Antivirus alsoe. still no luck.
• I've deregister and re-register the patch server & renamed SoftwareDistribution folder also. Still no luck.
• I've made  bits,cryptsvc,trustedinstaller services automatic and no luck.

We have done the patching in 3 slots. Slot-1 -- 10 server (100% Success), Slot-2 -- 15 servers (1 server failed) and slot-3 on Aug 30th -- 25 servers (16 failed).

I've attached error screenshots.  Please assist me to resolve the issue. Is it failing because any dependent (MAY18 patch is already installed in that sevrers) patch missing or on AUG 30th new patch got release, due to this..?

I have taken over the responsibility of our WSUS server 2012 r2.

My issues is that WSUS server is not updating client with Win10 1607 \1709  build to build 1803

These are the setting which were already configured so far.

1. In IIS manager the MIME is set too - Filename - .esd & MIMe Type to - application/octet-stream

2. GPM set so that user receive updates at schedule time.

Following setting now  Enabled 

Configure Automatic Updates 

Specify intranet  Microsoft update service location

Allow non-administrators to receive update notification

Allow Automatic updates immediate installation

No auto-restart with logged on user for schedule automatic updates installation

I would appreciate any input or suggestion on how I can make sure that ALL updates are pushed out accordingly.

I am noticing that my WSUS server for some reason offering two available Win10 1809 updates to my client machines.

Windows Server 2016

Version: 10.0.14393.2007

When my client's check in and proceed to update, it also appears as if it is installing two copies.

I have a feeling that this is consuming more space on my server then needed.

Anyone seen this issue and have a fix? Thanks

I have this issue on one server but it is important server which I cannot re-install...

Windows cumulative updates for Windows Server 2016 version 1607 x64 keeps failing to install.

SSU updates are being installed successfully, but the CU updates are failing.

So the current version of Windows server 2016 is 14393.2125 which is from 3/13/2018 - this was the last successufully installed CU update.

All CU updates since that date are failed.

Usually after the CU update installation, the server restart takes very long and at the end it is rolling back and the update installation is failed.

I tried also to manually download and install the update but the same happens.

Please suggest how can I fix this ?

I have windows Server 2012 R2. I have installed WSUS (VER:6.3.9600.18838). I have applied group policy on Tested OU with WUSU Settings & client side targeting -Workstation.<o:p></o:p>

I have applied Group Policy on Windows 7,Windows 8.1 & Windows 10 machines in OU. in WSUS console,ALL COMPUTER-Workstation, I can see all Windows 7,8.1 and windows 10 Machines. but Problem is Windows 8.1 & Windows 10 machines are showing not yet reported (0%).

Its been 3 to 4 days, I have applied Update,wuauclt/Detect now,Report now on windows 8.1 and windows 10 machines. but there is no change.  Group policy is applied on all the machines in OU.

Its new windows 2012 R2 server with WSUS installed.<o:p></o:p>

I have a problem with server which cannot check for updates.

Server is Windows Server 2012 R2 (Version 6.3 build 9600).

WUA version is 7.9.9600.18235.

Updates are approved on internal WSUS server.
