Hi all,

Is there anyone encountered windows updates failure on KB4503292 recently. Let me tell something more about the background.

OS: Windows 2008 R2 SP1
Found error "Install failed, error = 0x8007000" from windowsupdate.log

Already tried:

rename C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution

execute System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 (KB947821) and no error was found

Manual apply KB4503292 (June) and KB4507449 (July) but turn out FAILED as well.

May I ask how could I troubleshoot such issue? what else I could do?  Please let me know, many thanks.

Issues publishing third party updates in SCCM 10032

$

Hi all,

I'm putting this here as well as on the SCCM forum because I believe this is a WSUS issue

Every time I upgrade SCCM I am able to publish and deploy third party updates. the process runs smoothly without any problems

When I see that some updates are superseded and I want to publish other updates I get error 0x80070194 in the PatchDownloader log file.

After doing everything I wrote in this link (WSUS Cleanup + SUSDB reindexing + resync all updates) I found out that when I publish the update, WSUS error 10032 appears. I can't find the log file that can tell me what is wrong in the log files I do see there are no errors.

This is driving me nuts! any help would be appreciated.

Rahamim.

WSUS server keeps showing Error:Connection Error

$

I keep getting this Error:Connection Error message and even if I restart IIS and the WSUS service the reset node button doesn't work. I have to do a full reboot.

Here is the error I get

The WSUS administration console was unable to connect to the WSUS Server via the remote API.

Verify that the Update Services service, IIS and SQL are running on the server. If the problem persists, try restarting IIS, SQL, and the Update Services Service.

The WSUS administration console has encountered an unexpected error. This may be a transient error; try restarting the administration console. If this error persists,

Try removing the persisted preferences for the console by deleting the wsus file under %appdata%\Microsoft\MMC\.

Exception from HRESULT: 0x800710D8 during post install of wsus Windows 2012 R2

I'm having problems with post-installation of WSUS on Windows 2012 R2.  When I run it from the GUI I get this:

Log file is located at C:\Users\administrator.xxxxxxx\AppData\Local\Temp\2\tmp35BC.tmp
Post install is starting
Fatal Error: The object identifier does not represent a valid object. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800710D8)

I get the same result when I run this command in PowerShell ".\wsusutil.exe postinstall CONTENT_DIR=C:\WSUS"

I've checked many forums and cannot find a solution that works for me.  Here is the log file:

Any suggestions?

WSUS 3.0 SP2 compatibility with WSUS 10.0

 Hello ,

Can someone clarify me on below criteria..

We are working on environment where our CAS on wsus 3.0 SP2 and Our primary going to be wsus 10.0 and similarly secondaries under this primaries also going to be wsus 10.0 now our hierarchy look like below.

Note : Due to some other reasons CAS WUS not upgrading time being.

If we continue this then
CAS WSUS 3.0 SP2 ( Upstream Server ) on 2008 R2 OS.

Primary WSUS 10.0 ( Downstream ) on 2016 OS.

Secondaries WSUS 10.0 ( Downstream to primary ) on 2016 OS.

Do we get WSUS compatibility issue on primary while installation or during Sync with CAS ??

Hi

I am migrating WSUS W2K8 (W1) to WSUS W2K12 R2 (W2), and I have doubts. The W2 server is configured as replica and is correctly synchronized, but the data between one server and another is not the same. It is normal?

WSUS server not pushing patches on Windows 10 Pro version 1709 computers

Hi ,

We are facing a problem of Windows 10 Pro version 1709 not getting patches from WSUS server. The client computers are connected to WSUS server, WSUS server do have the latest cumulative update released for Windows 10 version 1709 64bit but that patch does not download and install on the machines.

Here is the latest patch available in WSUS server.

2019-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4507455)

Is this a WSUS server issue or the client OS issue? I know that Windows 10 Pro version 1709 support is ended but it can still be serviced. Even though the patch is available in WSUS server, any reason why that is not getting downloaded at client machine and installing ?

Thanks & Regards

Sitaram

WSUS : Windows 10 1709 to ... a supported version

Hello,

In our organisation, we use a lot of Windows 10 Pro computers. The updates are managed by WSUS (on Server 2019).

We have a lot of different hardware and the upgrades to the newest version of Windows 10 (1511, 1607, 1703, 1709) were installed automatically with WSUS.

But actually, the newest version (1803, 1809, 1903) are not installed automatically.

However i have check the checkbox of Upgrades and Windows 10 1803/1809/1903 on WSUS.

And the upgrades to 1803, 1809 and 1903 are allowed for all of the computers and downloaded.

If I click on the "Check for updates" option in the Windows Update interface of the computers (whitch check on WSUS), It show the 1803 update of Windows 10.

The updates is downloading from the Windows Update website of Microsoft (not WSUS ??), and after the installation of 1803, Windows Update automatically shows the 1809 or 1903.

All of this process happens correctly (Except the download from Windows Update and not WSUS), but it's not an automatic process. If I don't click manually on every computers on the "Check for updates" option in Windows Update, it show that the computer is up to date with the 1709 update (which is not supported henceforth).

I specify that WSUS works great for all of updates excepted this one.

And the others upgrades were correctly downloaded from WSUS.

The hardware is relativly recent and compatible with theses Windows 10 builds.

Thanks for your help (and in advance, excuse me for my bad English) !

Windows updates showing pending install - will not install automatically

We are using WSUS with Windows Server 2016. We have about 300 computers out of 1000 during our last round of 15 approved Windows updates that will not install automatically. They all show "Pending install" on the local client for each update. I have double and triple checked our GPOs but everything seems correct. You can install the updates by clicking install with no issues. I checked and dual scan is not enabled. In system event log it never shows that it tries to install at 11PM. I keep seeing these errors *FAILED* [80004001] ISusInternal: IsImmediateInstallPreferred on multiple of the affected clients in the WindowsUpdate.log. I checked and the active hours are set correctly in the registry as well as the other settings.

Synchronization gives me unknown result

Hello Technology Enhanced Human Beings,

I need help figuring out why my WSUS server is not synchronizing. When the scheduled synchronization ran yesterday, i got an error:

"One or more errors were found when trying to import updates into the data store, and the synchronization has failed. The next synchronization will try to import the updates that were not imported in this attempt."

However, when i do a manual run today, i got my result = unknown with no errors, no new updates, no revised updates, and no expired updates. Also, when synchronizing, i get up to about 20% and then becomes unknown.

Does anyone know why this happens? I looked this situation online and found that i should uncheck updates when checking for classification. I did this but still the same error.

Do I need to have Active Directory Directory Service (ADDS) set up to use WSUS?

At work I have twenty stand-alone computers that periodically require fresh installs of Windows. After every install I manually download and install updates on every machine. Our slow bandwidth makes this an 8 to 14 hour process.

I want to set up a WSUS server so that I can grab the updates once and then deploy them directly to my stand-alone machines via a Cisco Gigabit Network Switch. I'm hoping this will save time.

Will I have to (or is it just recommended) that I create an Active Directory Domain as well? I'd be running 2012R2 on a single machine with 16GB and two 500GB Hard Drives.

I've read that running WSUS outside of an ADDS environment can be accomplished if I'm willing to configure Local Group Policy on my client machines (though no further details were given).

Thanks!

Good evening,

I recently installed the Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) role on Windows Server 2016 (Build 1607).  All of my client machines are reporting in and getting updates except for the Windows Server 2016 machines.  I have followed all of the recommended solutions that I can find including running the following:

When I attempt to view the WindowsUpdate log, I run the PowerShell cmdlet "Get-WindowsUpdateLog".  I get gibberish with a bunch of lines like the following:

Unknown( 17): GUID=5e176dd5-9030-3682-669c-80da5c4e4617 (No Format Information found).

Further research indicates that it can't read the symbol cache.  I have deleted the cache, and it reloads, but I still get gibberish in the log file.  Therefore, this is a really difficult issue to troubleshoot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

I have recently installed WSUS on Server 2016 Standard. This is for controlling the updates from Microsoft that our clients get. However, after installation, I will run the post installation tasks within Server Manager and get an error that states that the post installation tasks have failed. Has anyone experienced this and can lend a hand in what to do in this scenario? Thanks in advance!
