I have 3 windows Server 2012 R2 Machine which is not receiving patches from Last 3 Months from Configuration manager.

I have tried all the basic troubleshoots like Reset windows update components. 

Sfc/Scannow has been done after manual installation failed 

Manual update has been done - Failed

Windows Live update failed.

wsus is setup and configured and deployed via GPO.  client servers are unable to check manually for updates using Windows Updates.  Management wants this to be an option.  currently this feature is blocked out by GPO and I cannot figure out which policy object is blocking it.  The "remove all access to windows updates" policy object has not been changed.

Wheni tired to install KB4490628 the installation screen always show installed however when i restart the server and check the installation log in windowsupdate.log and windows update history it show failed. I have tired use sfc /scannow, disable anti-virus, disable network and rename softwaredistribution folder but it still failure. Please help.

we are experiencing strange problem on Windows Servers 2016 related to windows updates.

After server is running for some time, Background Intelligent Transfer Service is stopped and switched to startup type: Manual.

When I switch it back to automatic and try to start it I am getting following error:

Windows could not start the Background Intelligent Transfer Service service on Local Computer.

Error 1290: The service start failed since one or more services in the same process have an incompatible services SID type setting. A service with restricted service SID type can only coexist in the same process with other services with a restricted SID type. If the service SID type for this service was just configured, the hosting process must be restarted in order to start this service.

I have to reboot the server, then I am able to start service again.

We have found a fix to edit registry settings but this I would like to avoid since we have 1000+ servers.

Can you please advise us how to prevent this from happening?

As the title suggests I am struggling to get our servers downloading LP's, both server 1607 (2016) and 1809 (2019).

I uderstand that LPs are available through WSUS for build 1607 and these have been downloaded and Approved for a group in WSUS where both 1607 and 1809 servers live. On the 1607 when i click on Reagoion and Language i see it serachng WU but then nothing, 'A language pack isn't available'.

For the 1809 server the LPs are no lonnger available and i have been advised to Enable the setting 'Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair' and select 'Download repair content and optional features directly from Windows Update instead of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)'. Again like the 1607 build it cannot find the labguage pack.

The only way to get this working acropss both servers is to disable WSUS on the server by editing the regvalue UseWUServer. This then trundles off to the Internet and downlodeds the LP!

Is there anyway to get both types of server to doanload the LPs without having to mess around on each server?

Hi,

we have WSUS infratructure based on Windows Server 2019. Windows Updates will be managed using GPOs.

Some servers are defined in the automatic update groups in the domain, and have their own update GPO. These servers should check/download/install/restart Windows Updates on Sturday at 08:00am.

Unfortunately the servers in the automatic update group don't/cannot check/download/install/restart Windows Updates. If the administrator checks updates manually these server ckeck and list available updates.

As you can see in this log file, the server did not do anything at 08:00am (or short after) related to Windows Updates.

Some log lines are not clear to me:

AU disabled through Policy (why! We applied it on GPO)

- Failed to get Wu Exemption info from NLM, assuming not exempt, error = 0x80240037

- AUEarliest future timer found

- Network Cost is assumed to be not supported as something failed with trying to get handles to wcmapi.dll

- AIR Mode is disabled

Any suggestion/solution?

A year ago,during a premiere case, we enabled WSUS logging in IIS to log to "E:\WSUSLOGS\logs" I am wondering how to disable logging, I can see it set in the IIS console at: "SERVER-NAME -> Sites -> WSUS Administration -> Logging".

When I check my other WSUS servers none of them even have Logging listed as an option, so it must set in there somewhere - or perhaps by registry.

I can't find it, any one know where to disable this?

I'm running W2016 standard running WSUS v10.0.14393.3085 with on proxy on a dell poweredge r510, which is on an enterprise domain (my managed WSUS GPOs for clients and server in my OU).  
Within WSUS, all clients within the computer and server groups (two separate GPOs w/ intranet, statistics, and alternative address as http://myservername.server.enterprise.com:8530) have been reporting and getting updates for some time (Synched from Microsoft Update), EXCEPT for the W2016 WSUS server itself (reports and tries to download only).  When approved updates are pushed to all clients from this WSUS server, this server as a client, always results a download error 0x80244019 for its scheduled updates.

I have tried the wupdate troubleshooter, stop services to delete the Software Distribution folder, run sfc and dism tools successfully, extending the IIS limits as often recommended, ran a script to update the synch point,.and other troubleshooting steps.

Generally, the wupdate logs on this W2016 WSUS server show "Failed to connect to the DO service", GetDOManager() failed, DO download failed with error 80246008[Extended: 80040154], falling back to BITS, DownloadManager Downloading from http://myservername.server.enterprise.com:8530/c/msdownload/update/software/secu/2019/09/windows10.0-kb4512574-x64-express_b177e2c2174b489ceff667d52df7f4c8ce03a9f3.cab to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\2d9e284ea8b5dc47a58881030534a0ae\Windows10.0-KB4512574-x64-express.cab (full file).  DownloadManager Error 0x80244019 occurred while downloading update; notifying dependent calls., DownloadManager The update's sandbox is in use.

In regard to the Wsus server as client logs, I don't understand the "Unknown( 10): GUID=aa07f95d-91be-3f47-51b3-717e4c7ddc98 (No Format Information found)".  Also, what and from where is the Wsus server trying to download and install that is different from the others?

We require you help on getting the below information for WSUS Install and Configuration :-

Infrastructure Details :-

 > We have Primary Domain Controller and secondary Domain Controller in UK  
 > The Fileserver also is configured in secondary Domain Controller 
 > We have RODC server in USA
 > We have Child Domain Controllers in Mumbai  

We have below Windows version :-

> Windows Server 2016 
> Windows Server 2012
> Windows 8
> Windows 10 


For the above infrastructure we need a Centralized WSUS Server where we can apply the updates effictively without any issues:-

1)Please let us know the Best Practice for the installation and Configuration settings to be done (GPO is preferred for our Infrastructure).

2)Do we require the reverse proxy for the WSUS ?

3)How to plan this update push to (Servers, Desktops) and what are the updates mandatory and what are updates should be avoided in the WSUS

I am running a WSUS Server on Windows Server 2012 R2. I have a few Server 2012 Servers updating from fine without any issues. I have just deployed a new Windows Server 2016 Server into the Environment. I configured my new server to look for updates from the WSUS but it keeps failing to connect to update service. I decided as I didn't have the time to investigate the possibility of Firewall issues I would leave it to update directly from Windows Update. 

I have now managed to rule out Firewall issues, but the Windows Server 2016 Server continues to fail to connect to the WSUS Server. 

Has anyone else run into this issue? I have found a few posts on forums with links to KB's which are not applicable to my server as they are already installed (Server 2012 R2).

Any pointers would be excellent.

What happend if my computer (windows10 1903 ) is offline and not connected to power supply

and has implemented gpo policy where

Configure automatic updates:

4-auto download and schedule the install

Sheduled install day 0-every day

Scheduled install time 03:00AM

Does it mean my computer skip install updates or will try asap after back to online?

Example : employee shut down his laptop at 5pm and next day starts his job at 9pm

It means his laptop will always skip install updates?

Will be glad if someone explain it to me in few words

I have been wasting a lot of time struggling with WSUS error but no results

We have one upstream WSUS server and 4 downstream (located in separate sites)

All servers work without any issue (no errors in event logs, synchronization is ok etc.)
But awhile ago we have faced with issue "There was a problem checking for updates. Code 80244007

It happens on each client (who looks on different WSUS server), even on  WSUS server itself

When I select Check online for updates from microsoft update everything works fine.

I have found different solutions but nothing helped me
1) removing SoftwareDistribution folder

2) increasing maxCachedUpdartes parameter in C:\Program Files\Update Services\WebServices\ClientWebService\web.config

3) resetup WSUS and recreate wsus DB

and so on

WSUS servers are Windows Server 2012R2
Clients - Windows 7 - 10, Windows 2012r2, windows 2016

Hi,

I have made an update of the machine and after restarting there is problem with further updates. While updating server (Windows Server 2012R2) from WSUS i get error 80072EE2. First updates has been made without a problem. Any other machine is updating correctly - only one is having issues.

Port 8530 is open, I have deleted SoftwareDistribution folder,  used dism to restorehealth, registered again dlls (there is info that msxml.dll and initpki.dll failed to load, but the same is on others server which are working just fine).

Updating from internet is not an option.

It does occasionally seem to install Security Updates (such as KB4519985) however it hasn't installed any monthly roll ups for quite some time (such as KB4520007).
