Updates required by computer group view not report.

Hi all,

I'm having a bit of a nightmare each month going over a list off 200+ servers while trying to fight WSUS to give me the information I need.

How do I setup a 'view' that lists all not approved patches required by a computer group? I know I can do a report, but I still have to process each KB number by hand.

Thanks in advance.

DMZ Hosts Management via Internal WSUS Server

$

Greetings,

I have an internal WSUS server that is working just fine in managing and deploying patches to internal servers. I"m looking to see how I can have DMZ servers that aren't part of the domain but in a workgroup enviornment to also be managed by the internal WSUS server. I tried to import the registry keys from an internal server that is managed by the internal WSUS server to the DMZ servers and I've opened up SSL on port 8531 but it's not communicating with the internal server. I can telnet to the internal WSUS server via that port just fine.

I"m getting error code 80072F8F - I've check the date and time and it's correct with the WSUS server. What should I be looking for as well?

Problem synchronizing w2012 server with wsus server

Hi,

I have some server 2012 which cannot synchronize with a wsus server (version 6.2).

I have reviewed this page (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd939857(v=ws.10).aspx) and have checked that everything is fine from the client (server 2012) but, I don't know why the servers don't contact with the wsus.

The rest of pc are synchronizing without problem.

In the gpmc I have a policy which apply to these servers but looking in "Local compute policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows" the settings are not filled, however in the regedit the settings are correct.

Can anybody help me?

Thanks in advanve.

Dear all,

From these log, what should I do in WSUS console and get them back to be reported properly?  Please advise.

During the investigation, I found out service status as below.
BITS - Started , automatic (Delayed Start)
Windows update - stopped, manual

But once I sent the command of "wuauclt.exe /resetauthorization /detectnow", the windows update will be started again.

May I ask if these 2 services supposed to be "started" automatically?

Thanks alot

Hello,

Anybody know what the "OOBE ZDP" update is for in Wsus products? I figured I would find something about this on the web but no luck.

Thanks,

Problems with WSUS

Hi All

Up until recently, WSUS was working fine.

The server hard disk was filled up with backups produced by a third party application.

The backups were removed to free up the space taken

Ever since the WSUS has not worked properly

When it is opened, it shows the main status page as normal.

However, if you click on for example 'All Updates', nothing happens and it eventually displays a connection error.

If you 'Copy Error to Clipboard' the following is shown:

The WSUS administration console was unable to connect to the WSUS Server via the remote API.

Verify that the Update Services service, IIS and SQL are running on the server. If the problem persists, try restarting IIS, SQL, and the Update Services Service.

I've tried restarting the Update service, and IIS, and SQL with no result.

Also tried this tool, but doesn't seem to have had an effect: wsus. codeplex. com /releases /view /17612

Please can you offer any advice in resolving this issue

Hi everybody!

Value does not fall within the expected range on new WSUS install on Server 2012

I just enabled and configured the WSUS role on a new Server 2012 installation and after synchronizing with Microsoft and approving some updates, I see that none of them are being downloaded. I look in the event log and get something similar to this for each update I've approved. I have looked around on the Internet and most of the entries I find say something about a proxy server being configured wrong. We do not have a proxy server for this network and the only firewall we have is between our router and the Internet. In other words, the firewall does not interfere with anything on our intranet. I've stood up many WSUS servers on Windows 2008 R2 platforms and have never had this problem. I would appreciate anyone who can help with this.

Ran movecontent but nothing happened and it broke WSUS

We are having an issue with disk space so I created an additional drive and planned on moving the WSUS content to it.  I ran the command "wsusutil.exe movecontent g:\wsus g:\wsus\change.log" (g:\ being the new drive).  When I did so, the folders were created but none of the content was copied over and after several minutes, I received a message that read "Fatal Error: The WSUS synchronization service <WsusService> cannot be stopped."  I manually stopped the service but received the same result.  Next, I enable the services that WSUS uses but when I go into WSUS, it keeps wanting me to reset the node.  If I stop the "Update Services" service I am able to reconnect WSUS but everytime I start that service, it crashes WSUS again. My first question is how do I restore WSUS so that it is working properly as it did before I ran the movecontent command?  Second, what might I have done wrong when running the movecontent command?  Any assistance is greatly appreciated, thank you!

WSUS - Download Status Query

We operate WSUS on our offshore drilling rigs.  The WAN connection is VSAT, with high latency circa 700ms.

The download status of my updates shows that it is incomplete.  However, when I review the 'All Updates' and filter to show my 'Approved' list of patches, all of the patches do appear to have successfully downloaded.

One point to note, is that my field office WSUS servers have a slightly larger 'WSUS content' folder.  Approx 34GB.  Whereas my rigs have approx. 29GB.

I have seen some Event ID 364 errors in my event logs.  I was able to repair them and see the successful information notice Event ID 10030.

Appreciate any advice to help me sync up my rigs so that the content folders match.

Thanks

Darren

Dear Experts,

I am back again in this very helpful forum. I want your expertise in knowing few of my doubts. So your feedback is greatly appreciated and will clear our miss understanding. We are having WDS+MDT2013 integrated in a Windows server 2008. Now the 1st point : Is there any Licence cost involved with MDT? I am already having Server Licence for Windows server 2008 & 2012.

2nd doubt is that : In our office we are having Client (Win7Pro., Win8Pro. & Win8.1) licenses purchased including Paper License, OEM, Box Licence for windows client. Now if I deploy client OS through MDT and I get those clients activation with their respective OEM/Box/Paper Licence key. In this scenario is there any OEM licence violation involved. If yes then we will not use MDT forOS deployment.

I am very excited to listen the answer from you and further progress will

dependent upon your response

New WSUS server has errors

Hello,

I have installed WSUS on Server 2012 R2 on a server following these instructions.  https://mizitechinfo.wordpress.com/2013/08/19/step-by-step-installing-configuring-wsus-in-server-2012-r2/

I did all of the steps in this document but noticed that I am not able to download updates to the client.  I am getting these 2 errors:

1.  Your WSUS server currently shows that no computers are registered to receive updates; and

2.  The files for this update have not yet been downloaded.  The update can be approved but will not be available to computers until the download is complete.  Note that I approved the updates already.  Additional note is that this is an offline network so I did an export from a separate SCCM/WSUS server, which is connected to the internet and successfully synchronized the updates on the offline network.

Any help in getting this working would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

M

Hello,

I am installing WSUS for the first time and am still trying to figure everything out.  On my 2012 R2 server, I added the WSUS roles.  Do I still need to download WSUS 3.0 SP2 as well?  Please advise.  Thanks for any help!

Thanks,

M
