du you have a hint for me. I tried to replace my existing WSUS (2012R2) with Server 2016. Everything was working until i changed to port 80 (wsusutil usecustomwebsite false). After that clients will show up in the console but they dont report.

I also set up a clean test environment with DC (a win 7, 8.1, 10 and server 2012 R2 Clients) but even there it does not work after i chage the port to 80.

does someone know a fix for this ?

Logged into my WSUS sever and came accross update issue.  However when I looked into further, the event logs shows connection issue to SUSDB. 

I opened management studio to dicover that the SUSDB is recovery pending state.

Restarted the internal windows windows internal database but still getting the same error

Any ideas how to fix it?

Update...

After further investigation I found that the SUSDB is not showing up in my WSUS folder path

This WSUS serivce my SCCM which is on the same server

I have this problem in both the WSUS MMC and in a PowerShell script that I got to clean up WSUS.

Here's the error:

An unhandled Microsoft .NET Framework exception occurred win w3wp.exe [59520].

The Just-In-Time debugger was launched without necessary security permissions.  To debug this process, the Just-In-Time debugger must be run as an Administrator.  Would you like to debug this process?

I have two options:  Yes, debug w3wp.exe or No, cancel debugging.

If I choose no, then the process just aborts. If I choose yes, then I get a UAC prompt.  Then I get a Visual Studio Just-In-Time debugger windows that shows possible debugbgers: with "New instance of Microsoft Visual Studio 2010."

If I choose Yes, then I get a window that says "Invalid license data.  Reinstall is required."  Then I get a window that says: "The debugger you selected cannot be started.  Would you like to choose another?"

That is pretty much as far as I can go.  I can't find a way to fix this freaking thing.

I'd love some suggestions and/or fixes.

I am having a very hard time getting the Anniversary update to push out via WSUS. I all but one of the clients systems I have tried this on Windows update hangs at Downloading update 0%. The files are on the WSUS server and if I chose to download directly from MS Update the upgrade installs fine. I have tried resetting Windows update on the clients with no results. The WSUS server has KB3105796 installed. Wsus is not configured to us SSL. I have set .esd and msu mime types and re-downloaded the Win10 v1607 files. WSUS gives error code 0x80246010 and Event.Client.167 and .181.

I don't know what else to do here .

Hi all,

Everytime I try to run the cleanup wizard WSUS crashes and I need to press Reset Server Node to get it up again.

The server  is a replica server. I tried everything, I am on the newest version as far as I know. I also ran the WsusDBMaintenance script multiple times and I tried to run the wizard from powershell by a script; but that also timed out/crashes WSUS. The wizard seems to crash on these two catagories:

- Unused updates

- Expired updates

When i run it for the other catagories it runs fine and actually finishes the process.

I am on version 3.2.7600.274. OS is Server 2008 R2. I hope someone can come up with a solution...

I have a question regarding the new monthly quality rollup and security only update patches for Server 2012 R2 (KB3185331 and KB3192392).

We decided to approve the monthly quality rollup (KB3185331 ) via WSUS.  The approval and application to the servers appears to have went fine.  The problem is that even after applying the monthly quality rollup, the servers are still asking for the security only update (KB3192392) in WSUS.

As we are still testing in a dev environment, we went ahead and approved the security only update as well.  The servers happily grab it, install, and request a reboot (keep in mind this is after they have already had the quality rollup applied and rebooted).

My belief was that the monthly quality rollup contained all of the security patches - so why are the servers still asking to install the security only update as well?

We have a windows 2008 native domain . We are using a windows 2008 R2 server as host for WSUS service version 3.2.7600.226 .

The windows 2008 R2 servers , windows 2012 R2 servers receive the updates from WSUS server instantly BUT the issue is with Win7 clients.

Win7  clients appear in WSUS console with 0 percent  and no more response and does not receive any update from server.We have also installed windows update agent version 7.6.7601.19161 .

On clients below commands had been executed with administrator right

wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow /scannow /reportnow

we had deleted/recreated  C:\windows\SoftwareDistribution folder on client Pcs too  .

Any help , Comments or recommendation is highly appreciated.

All the windows 10 pro upgraded from windows 7 pro. all are on windows 2008R2 sp2 enterprise. WSUS3.0 sp2 is showing all these clients as vista. windows 7 shows up as windows 7. Is this because WSUS was released before windows 10 release.

I'll try to provide as much information as I can ...

• Server 2012R2 WSUS ver. 6.3.9600.18228
• KB3095113 installed April 2016
• Windows 10 updates downloaded Oct 2016 (so I'm assuming the updates have been downloaded correctly)
  
• KB3159706 installed yesterday - post install steps followed
• gpo sets 'Download' mode to 'Bypass' (in Delivery Optimisation)

I've setup a new Windows 10 Pro (1607) machine, domain joined, in correct OU.

It reports to WSUS. But the update client hangs. Looking at the application log the WU client crashes.

I've followed this https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/mniehaus/2016/08/16/windows-10-delivery-optimization-and-wsus-take-2/ and looking at the comments I'm not alone.

I'm not sure what to do next?

The latest windows updates remove the following registry keys from the path below:

WeakSha1ThirdPartyFlags

WeakSha1ThirdPartyAfterTime

Nessus scans now show the device has a risk which it didn’t have before the latest updates.

I have confirmed on a test machine that the keys existed before the updates, but disappeared after the reboot and KB3123479 will not install on the machine as it says it is already installed.

Can someone please advise if this is expected behaviour or a problem with the latest batch of updates?

We are using a WSUS 3.0 SP2.

We have approved the october 2016 security updates.

But after the updates are installed and our workstations are up-to-date the WSUS console does not show the right version of Windows.

Win 10 1511: Workstation shows 10586.679, WSUS still shows 10586.672.

Win 10 1607: Workstation shows 14393.447, WSUS still shows 14393.351.

In other words WSUS still shows the version of the previous Win 10 cumulative update.

Anybody else experiencing this?

I keep seeing references to WSus 4 and Wsus 2012, yet I cant find any download for them. is there such a thing?

Out of the blue a total of 14 machines stopped reporting to WSUS. Thankfully I have been able to get most of them back to reporting but these last 5 are giving me issues. This log is from one of the machines that is still not working. The last successful"check for updates" was on Oct 15. I kicked off a manual scan while I review the log.

Has anyone experience this?

I recently installed 2 (soon to be 3) new WSUS servers.  this is their only purpose.  First one is a master and the subsequent 2 are to be replica's.  The first replica that i configured is working, getting the groups and updates from the master, but when i am on the master, with the WSUS admin console open, if i try to add the replica there i get an error message connecting to it saying "Make sure that the post install scripts are done" etc etc..which they do appear to be.  If i open the WSUS admin console on the replica in question, it connects no problem to itself and also to the master.  I have confirmed tcp/8530 bi-directionally. 

Update Services: version 6.2.9200.1638 (if that is of any help).

looking for more insight here.  I previously deployed a test environment in the same fashion and had no issues.  only difference really was that the testing environment was all on the same subnet and no firewalls...but i *think* i have ruled out the firewalls here.

I have a fresh build of Server 2016 and WSUS.  I'm trying to get it up and running and have a test OU that has GP point the WSUS server to this one rather than production.  The two machines that are set to pull updates from it do not show up on the server and when I go in to the WSUS console on the server to look at what is going on, it will sit there and wait until it times out then says "Reset Server Node".

I have deleted the application cache at %appdata%/Microsoft/MMC for WSUS but that does not seem to help.

The server is a basic install with the WSUS feature and set to automatically approve critical and security updates.  The only other feature that I've set up is de-duplication for file storage.
