Windows 2012 Server stuck in loop

Hello All ,

After installing December month patches, couple of Windows 2012 Server stuck in restart loop. Can anyone confirm is there any known issue with December 2019 patches ?

Does anyone face this issue?

Resolution is already there:

To break the loop you need to press F8 and select safe mode. Server will most likely take another reboot but will come up after that.

Thanks

Baneesh

2012R2 Wsus with SQL server Express.

Hello,

Im planing the installation of WSUS 2012R2 and SQL server express. I know the 10gb limitation of the DB, i dont think our DB exceeds 3 or 4GB.

On my company they prefer to use SQL Express instead WID.

In the future, we will migrate the SQL express to SQL 2014 or 2016, when we buy it.

Is this a good action plan ?

Many thanks ;)

WSUS not reporting to WSUS until they have done an initial download online

Hi, hoping someone call help me. Recently we built some new servers (same image we used on older servers). The servers are put in a GP in AD and appear in WSUS console with the number of updates outstanding etc. However the last 5 servers built are appearing in WSUS but with a status of not yet reported. When I kick off the "check for updates" on the server, it will keep checking and checking but never actually pulls any down and the status in WSUS remains the same. If I pull down some updates online and install, the server will change the status in WSUS and from that point on I can install updates from WSUS (managed by admin). This is a recent issue and nothing has changed in either WSUS or how the servers are built. Obviously I would prefer if all the updates installed on servers are managed. I have tried everything like stop and start wuauserv and bits. I have checked registry to ensure the correct WSUS server is displaying. I have tried numerous things. I would be very grateful if anyone could help out

thanks in advance

Sharon

Windows Update Error 80092004

I posted this question originally on the consumer site therefore I am posting it here, here is my problem

We had four severs running Server 2k8 SP2 that were all failing in installing Windows Update KB4512499, 4517301.  So we installed patch 4474419, 4490628.  This fixed two of the servers but the other 2 are still failing to install those updates with error code 80092004 which is the same error on all four servers.  Not sure what to do next.

Wsus not reflecting pending updates from computers

We are running WSUS on a Server 2019 Standard server and haven't had any issues. But a couple weeks back we noticed several computers had a download now option for some Office updates. But these updates weren't reflected in any reports in WSUS when checking the computer. So we have no idea why this is happening and we are wanting the machines to install these but its only showing up as a download now option. All computers are set to call home to the WSUS server and not to go out to Microsoft itself for updates. This is the first time this has happened. Does anyone have any ideas?

Is it possible to only push and install definitions updates through GPO?

can't re-install WSUS

Hello.

We had a running WSUS Server 2012R2 server, but the console stopped connecting (and clients stopped updating) weeks ago. Not being able to find anything stopped services or such, I recalled that an earlier issue was resolved by uninstalling and re-installing WSUS. Ii have tried that a few times today, but the post-installation tasks fail each time. I have uninstalled the IIS role, WSUS role and WID feature, manually deleted the WID folder and the updates locations folders and then tried to re-install. The post installation tasks stops at the IIS configuration section, saying:

Any suggestions as to how I can get WSUS to re-install?

WSUS content folder too large.

WSUS sync

Hi Guys,

We recently cloned a WSUS W2008. Rebuilt the cloned machine to W2012 and shutdown the legacy. When it comes to sync from the upstream server it just gets stuck on 0% and does not seem to go anywhere.

Does anyone know how I can troubleshoot this issue. There doesn't appear to be anything in the windowsupdate.log in c:\windows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

Updates deploy & Computers exist in WSUS but never report status!?

$

Hi All,

WSUS configured on Server 2019 STD, Computers successfully assign via GPO client side targeting and updates are deploying accordingly to my server groups according to my automatic approval policies however, it's now been a few days since updates deployed and still none of the Computers in WSUS console show as having completed a status report so I cannot get any reporting on patch levels and compliance via WSUS.

The curve ball here is there is an unfinished SCCM deployment in this domain too. Am I look in the wrong place for status reports (WSUS console) and should I rather be looking in the SCCM console somewhere and getting this deployment complete?

Thanks in advance,

durrie.

Uninstall WSUS SP2 3.0 from Windows Server 2012 R2

Hello everyone, we performed an upgrade of our Server 2008 R2 and now can not uninstall WSUS 3.0 SP2. Is there any way that we can force PCA to uninstall this from the server? I do now know that WSUS 3.0 is incompatible with Server 2012 R2. Is there anything that we can do other than reformatting this server? This is our primary DC at this location and would prefer to not format this server.

installing WSUS on server 2012 and running into errors.

for the longest time i was getting Access Denied errors but i think i am passed that now. but i am now running into this error. For the life of me i cannot figure this out. I am hoping someone can shed some light as to the reason I am getting this error. This server is a pretty vanilla server. Mostly printer server and runs Spiceworks, thats it.

I have disable Windows firewall and antivirus.
